Reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) said that we don’t know whether Rahul Gandhi is Hindu or not, but it is welcoming if he follows the Hindu religion.
Addressing a press conference in Lucknow, VHP’s International General Secretary Milind Parande said, “We don’t know whether Rahul Gandhi is Hindu or not but if he follows the religion then we all should welcome him. I think everyone in the country should follow Hinduism and all political parties must promote it.”
“There are lot of challenges before the Hindu community at present. The incidents of conversion by the Christian missionaries in some parts of UP are highly condemning. We have called a meeting of saints and members of the organisation on October 5 in Delhi where Ram Mandir, cow protection, illegal conversion of Hindus, Kumbh mela in Allahabad will be discussed. We also appeal to the UP government to take action against the missionaries involved in luring the Hindus for conversion,” added Parande.
Speaking on the Ram Mandir issue in particular, VHP international general secretary said, “The small temple was already constructed when Babri Masjid was demolished in Ayodhya. There are some legal hurdles but we are hopeful that a grand temple of Lord Ram will be constructed there.”
On Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to a mosque in Indore, the VHP leader said that it’s the PM himself who can clearly explain why he went there. We don’t know what’s going on in his mind.
Parande also claimed that nearly 32 lakh people have been associated with the VHP in the last one year and the group is planning to start a recruitment drive for women across the country.
Reacting to VHP’s statement, Congress spokesperson Akhilesh Pratap Singh said, “It is the same VHP which has amassed money given for Ram Mandir construction in the past. People with such mentality can never be devotees of Lord Ram.”
