Salaam Cricket 2018: A day dedicated to Asia Cup


Cricket legends from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will share the stage and speak about the history of the gentleman’s game and the elite competition in the sixth edition of Salaam Cricket in Dubai on Monday.

With Bangladesh’s thumping win over Sri Lanka on Saturday, the Asia Cup got off to a surprising yet entertaining start in Dubai. And, it will only get better with time as the fans in Dubai await the blockbuster clash between India and Pakistan on Wednesday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

And, just two days prior to the thriller in Dubai on September 19, cricketing legends Sunil Gavaskar, Mohammad Azharuddin, Harbhajan Singh, Wasim Akram, Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Habibul Bashar, Muttiah Muralitharan, Abdul Qadir will get together at Hotel Address Boulevard, Dubai to enthral the audience with unheard tales, electrifying insights and their un-paralleled view on the Asia Cup.

Aaj Tak will bring together the legendary cricketers from Asia at the iconic Annual Cricket Conclave, Salaam Cricket in Dubai on 17th September.

The cricket icons will share candid moments from the game, and their off-field camaraderie that represents their true sportsmanship.

The Asia Cup, which is in its 14th edition this year, will be a 50-over tournament, like it started way back in 1984. Out of the 13 editions os far, 12 have been ODIs and the 2016 edition is the only exception, when it was played in a T20 format.

India are the current champions and have won the tournament six times and they are followed by Sri Lanka, who have won it five times. Pakistan have won it twice.

Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya has scored the most number of runs in the tournament with 1220 runs to his name while Muttiah Muralitharan has taken the most number of wickets (30).

The first Asia cup was held in 1984 in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates and it is returning to the country after a gap of 23 years, with the last time being 1995, when the Asia Cup was played there.
