Manohar Parrikar discharged from AIIMS, to be flown back to Goa


Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday was discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, where he has been undergoing treatment for a pancreatic ailment.

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday was discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, where he has been undergoing treatment for a pancreatic ailment.

Parrikar, who was admitted on September 15, was shifted to ICU for sometime in the morning after his health deteriorated. The hospital, however, has now decided to discharge him. Parrikar will now be flown back to Goa by an air ambulance.

“Upon returning to Goa, Parrikar will stay at his private residence in Panaji,” an official of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) had told PTI on Saturday.

On Friday, Parrikar also held a meeting in the hospital with Goa BJP’s core committee. Parrikar met Union Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Naik, BJP’s Goa unit president and Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar, three Goa cabinet ministers and two Goa Lok Sabha MPs to discuss issues of governance in the state.

Parrikar, 62, has been undergoing treatment for his pancreatic ailment at different hospitals in Goa, Delhi and the US since February.

Meanwhile, the Congress has been demanding a floor test in the state to prove majority and stake claim to form a government.
