A personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Police (J&K) was killed in an encounter between security forces and militants in Batmaloo, near Srinagar. besides this, one personnel of the J&K Police and two of the Central reserve Police Force were injured in the gunfight.
The encounter started early Sunday morning.
Director General of Police SP Vaid said the operation was launched after receiving specific information about the presence of the militants.

Meanwhile, sources said security forces were able to corner Lashkar commander Naved Jatt. However, there is no official confirmation in this regard.
Later, the operation was called off after the militants managed to escape. However, security forces have detained two of their accomplices.
As a precautionary measure, internet services in the region were suspended.
