The first teaser of the last season of Game of Thrones pays a tribute to George R R Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, the work, on which the series is made. HBO released the 50-second teaser on Friday and it has sent the social media into tizzy.
The battle would be intense as the teaser shows a dragon and a direwolf being overtaken by ice and a lion getting consumed by fire.
GoT 8 to hit small screen in April 2019
The date for the final season was announced by HBO in November in a promotional video which teased that all of the conflict fans have seen in the show thus far has all been building to this final confrontation with the White Walkers, reports Variety.com.
Game of Thrones which brings the story from George R.R. Martin’s novels about the quest to claim the Iron Throne alive, is known for the twists and turns, ruthless killing scenes, unexpected deaths all wrapped up with emotion and drama. The show is aired in India on Star World.
The show brought actors like Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Maisie Williams, Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Iwan Rheon into spotlight, making them global stars.
Although the flagship series is ending, HBO has multiple projects set in the Game of Thrones universe currently in development.
Game of Thrones reunion on cards
Ahead of the premiere of the final season of the hit sitcom Game of Thrones, the makers will treat the fans to a reunion episode which will include all the actors who were part of the series till date. HBO channel confirmed the news of the special episode but it won’t air on the network – it will only be available as part of the complete series home video box set, which will package all eight seasons together, reported people.com. Also, the reunion episode will be out only after the release of the final season.
Spin-offs from the main series are currently in the works, with Naomi Watts already confirmed to star in The Long Night, a prequel series which will be set thousands of years before the events of the show.
Kit Harington to never return to GoT
Actor Kit Harington found it emotional to finish TV series Game of Thrones but he would never go back and do more episodes.
The British actor has portrayed Jon Snow in the hit fantasy drama since 2011 and earlier this year wrapped his final scenes for the show’s last season, which will air in 2019.
And while it was hard to end that chapter of his life, Harington is not sad about moving on with his career and has vowed to never return to the show.
“It was emotional to leave the job definitely,” Harington told bbc.com.
He added: “But I wouldn’t say I was sad: if like me you go all the way back to the pilot of Game of Thrones that’s almost 10 years of your life – that’s really unusual in an actor’s career. It was a huge emotional upheaval leaving that family. But would I want to go back and do more? Not on your life.”
