A magnitude 5.3 earthquake hit parts of Mizoram on Saturday night, the India Meteorological Department said.
The quake occurred at 10.45 pm and the epicenter was located in Champhai district in the state.
The epicenter was 24 km below the surface.
The tremors were also felt in state capital Aizawl, where people rushed out of houses, officials told PTI.
There was no immediate report of any casualty or damage to property.
