BJP, Congress responsible for allowing Vijay Mallya to flee, says Mayawati

Ready to join Opposition only if BSP gets respectable seat share: Mayawati

Keeping the Samajwadi Party and the Congress guessing, BSP supremo Mayawai said that she is ready to join hands with opposition parties to stop the BJP in upcoming elections only if her party is given a respectable number of seats. “Otherwise the BSP will contest elections alone,” she said.

Mayawati also said the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party are responsible for allowing fugitive liquor baron Vijay Mallya to flee the country after defrauding banks of thousands of crores.

Speaking during a press conference in Lucknow, Mayawati attacked the BJP and accused it of “politicising” the death of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. She said the BJP “needs to exposed” before the people for damage it has caused due to demonetisation.

MAYAWATI’S TOP 5 COMMENTS

1) Mayawati said the BJP is facing “serious allegations” over the irregularities in the Rafale deal. “The Modi government hasn’t answered these allegations. The BJP must be exposed before the people. The people will take their revenge from the BJP in the coming elections because it has failed to fulfill any of its promises,” she said. Mayawati alleged that the Congress and the BJP are both responsible for allowing fugitive liquor baron Vijay Mallya to flow out of the country.

2) “The BJP has left no stone unturned to draw political mileage from the death of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The BJP and the Rashtra Swayamsevak Sangh are trying to divert people’s attention,” Mayawati said.

3) Speaking about the upcoming assembly elections, Mayawati said: “The BSP is willing to join hands with other opposition parties to defeat the BJP in the upcoming assembly elections and the 2019 Lok Sabha election.” She said, however, this will be done only if the BSP is given a respectable number of seats. “Otherwise the BSP will contest elections alone,” she said.

4) Mayawati distanced herself from Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar (alias Ravan) who was released by the Uttar Pradesh government earlier this week. Chandrashekhar was arrested in connection with the Saharanpur violence in 2017. Mayawati said some people are trying to associate themselves with her and are calling her bua (aunt) for political reasons. “I have nothing to with them. Recently a person responsible for the violence in Saharanpur tried to associate with me. I would like to say that I have nothing to do with him. This is the BJP’s game plan,” she said.

5) The BSP supremo demanded that the BJP should “apologise” to the people for the harm caused due to demonetisation. “Demonetisation resulted in increase of unemployment and poverty in the country. Besides this, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) was implemented in haste. Only few businessmen benefited from this,” she said.
