A 12-year-old mentally challenged girl was allegedly raped inside a school in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur district.
The girl’s mother informed Railbazar police station in Kanpur on Saturday evening that her daughter was raped inside a school which belongs to the cantonment board.
However, she said the police indulged in unnecessary arguments and wasted time.
“My daughter told me that her clothes were taken off and something wrong had happened. The incident took place inside the school. Instead of acting swiftly on our complaint, we were made to sit at the police station for hours. It was only after we protested at the police station over the dilly-dallying that our complaint was registered,” said the girl’s mother.
Speaking to India Today, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ajit Singh said, “We have filed a case over the complaint filed by the girl’s mother. An FIR under sections of rape and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act has been filed. The matter is being investigated by the police.”
